Information on the Master Classes Summer 2024

Participation Terms and Conditions on the Summer Master Classes of Wiener MusikSeminar

Our Offer

  • We guarantee to every active participant and ensemble at least 4 hours à 60 min. lessons (except for the conducting and soloist course).

  • Accompanying during the instrumental- and singing lessons is free of charge.

  • Listeners / passive participants can apply in consultation with the organiser.

  • Participants can listen to other participants’ lessons with approval of the professor.

  • Accommodation at Sommerhotel Wieden, interpreters (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian) and visa applications can be booked for an additional fee (see „Fees“ or "Accommodation").

  • Course location: University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (address: Anton-von-Webern-Platz 1, 1030 Wien)

  • Practice rooms: By availability, practice rooms will be provided for piano students free of charge (approx. 1 hour per day; practice rooms are located  at Sommerhotel Wieden; reservation for the practice rooms can be made at Sommerhotel Wieden. Other students are allowed to practice in their hotel rooms at Sommerhotel Wieden. For additional practice rooms we recommend booking rooms at Klaviergalerie at the participant’s own expense.

  • Concerts and Events: In each course block Wiener MusikSeminar organises following concerts and events: the Opening Event, the Concert of Professors, two Concerts of Participants, the Prof. Dichler-Competition and the Concert of Award Winners. All concerts and events take place at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna excluding one of the Concerts of Participants which takes place in Lower Austria. Only students recommended by the professor can perform at the concerts and events. All concerts and events of Wiener Musikseminar are public and free of charge.

  • Concerts in Lower Austria: In each course block one of the concerts of participants takes place in Lower Austria.

    • 1st block: concert at Haydn's Birthplace in Rohrau and at Hilde Wagener Künstlerheim in Baden

    • 2nd block: concert at Heiligenkreuz-Gutenbrunn Castle and Atzenbrugg Castle (Schubert Memorial)

    • 3rd block: concert at Haydn's Birthplace in Rohrau

    • 4th block: concert at Parish Church Münchendorf

    • 5th block: concert at Hilde Wagener Künstlerheim in Baden

    • For the trips to Haydn's Birthplace in Rohrau, Heiligenkreuz-Gutenbrunn Castle and Atzenbrugg Castle (Schubert Memorial), Wiener MusikSeminar organises bus transfer, lunch at a local restaurant and a guided tour of Haydn's Birthplace or Heiligenkreuz-Gutenbrunn Castle (reservation can be made in our office at the university).

    • For the concerts at Hilde Wagener Künstlerheim and Parish Church Münchendorf, the performing artists will be taken there by car.

  • Diploma: All active participants get a diploma. Listeners / passive participants receive a letter of confirmation if asked for in our office at the university.

  • Prof. Dichler-Competition: Award winners of the Prof. Dichler-Competition receive a certificate and a badge (metal platelet), and perform at the Concert of Award Winners on the following day.

General Conditions

  • Participants, who want to take the course of a particular professor, will be required to register on time. The applications are considered on a first come first serve basis.

  • A change of course afterwards is only possible in consultation with the organiser and if free places are still available.

  • Every student should prepare at least 3 pieces from different composers (excluding singing master classes, where a sufficient number of pieces should be prepared).

  • The lesson hours will be arranged with the professor on the first course day.

  • Concerning the course start: the administration will send an email to all participants in the week before the respective course starts with information about the first meeting at our office at the university. At this meeting you will get some general information about the master classes and the starting times of the respective master classes.

  • Highly talented adolescents and children are welcome to participate. The participation of children below a certain age limit is only possible with adult supervision.

  • Wiener MusikSeminar is entitled to use photos and videos taken during the master classes for their own marketing purposes (e.g. facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, website). If there are any objections, we would kindly ask you to contact us.

  • We only process your personal details (e.g. name, address, email address, telephone number) in accordance with the regulations of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679, and only use the personal details provided by you to carry out your requests. We do not pass your details on to third parties. Master Classes for Chamber Music

  • Master classes for chamber music offer the participants to get acquainted with chamber music pieces from duo to octet.

  • Chamber music ensembles have to be formed beforehand.

  • Registration: Each ensemble member has to apply separately.

  • Fees: Each ensemble member pays the full registration fee, but the course fee is split up between the ensemble members.

Fees

  • Each participant pays a registration fee (€ 195,-), which is valid during the whole master-classes season (July - September 2024).

  • For each master class, the participant pays a course fee according to the course rates (€ 598,-, excluding chamber music participants where the course fee is split up between the ensemble members, and participants of the conducting course and soloist course).

  • Accommodation at Sommerhotel Wieden, interpreters (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian) and visa applications can be booked for an additional fee:

    • Accommodation at Sommerhotel Wieden costs € 54,50 per night/person in a double-room, € 86,- per night in a single-room.

    • Fees for interpreters are € 180,- per course 

    • Those participants who require the travel visa to attend the master class pay a visa application fee (€ 95,-).

Refund of Fees

Paid course fees can be refunded in the following cases (the registration fee will only be refunded in case 2. and 3.):

  1. by prevention of force majeur

  2. when a course is cancelled by the management

  3. no more available places in the course

  4. if participants cancel their registration by no later than 4 weeks before course start, 100% of the course fee will be refunded - if they cancel by no later than 2 weeks before course start, 50% of the course fee will be refunded - cancellations within the last 2 weeks before course start are non-refundable.

Registration

  • For registration please apply online.

  • Registration is possible until 30th June or 4 weeks before the selected course is starting.

  • The transfer of the registration fee (€ 195,-) must be made immediately together with the registration.

Payment and Bank Account

  • We cannot confirm the registration fee separately - only after receiving all of the fees (registration fee, course fee and possible additional fees for interpreters and visa application), the participants will get a confirmation via email.

  • Accommodation fees have to be paid directly at Sommerhotel Wieden.

  • All payments have to be made in € / EURO with the note “free of charge for the recipient” prior to the beginning of the master class. If there are transfers to the debit of Wiener MusikSeminar (e.g. transfer fees charged by the bank), they have to be paid on the participant’s first course day in our office at the university.

  • We do not accept credit cards or personal cheques.
