Walter Fleischmann

Em. o. Univ. Prof. Walter Fleischmann (University of Music Vienna) Walter Fleischmann studied piano with Paul Weingarten and Richard Hauser, song accompaniment  with Erik Werba and chamber music with Otto Schulhof at the Academy of Music, Vienna (now-a days  University of Music, Vienna ). He performed concerts in Europe and Asia as soloist as well as accompanist  in songrecitals and took part in chamber music -performances. 1980 and 1986 visiting-professor in Shanghai.  Master classes and lectures in Austria, Germany, China and Taiwan. Beside the musical and stylistic  instructions in his lessons he set value also on anatomical-physiological conrrect piano - technics and  gives support to all technical as well as to stiffness-problems. Emphasis will be on Bach, classic and  romantic repertoire. Walter Fleischmann is since 1964 Professor at the University of Music, Vienna.

It would be in the interest of the students and pianists to prepare several sonatas of Haydn, Mozart and Schubert alongside their prepared programmes. It would be sufficient to only play the principal themes in order to learn about style, character, tempo and musical expression. There would be no need to play from memory, and we can dispense with technically difficult passages for the time being. In this way it would  take little time to practise,  but would have enormous advantages in the enrichment of musical understanding in the short time-span of the course. This is an advantage for the course participants , but is not compulsory
